40 AMP

Whether you are a digital or analogue fan, the 40 AMP was designed to be at the centre of your home audio and provide the perfect partner regardless of your preferred playback source. Delivering the level of exceptional performance expected from today’s music fans, this integrated amplifier has the capabilities to drive even the most demanding of loudspeakers. With 100 watts per channel into 6 ohms, and a generously over-specified power supply the 40 AMP is capable of reproducing the scale and drama of the musical performance in your own home.

Encased in the sleek design of the 40 series aluminium casing with a 5” hi-resolution full colour TFT display, the 40 AMP has been designed to fit into today’s modern lifestyle. Sitting at the centre of this multi-functional amplifier is an electronic circuit that has been designed entirely by the R&D team at Cyrus. The DAC is based upon the latest chipset from ESS, the ES9039Q2M, and has been reworked to provide an audio signal that replicates the artists original recording to a level not seen in a Cyrus product before.

As well as multiple digital and analogue connections, the 40 AMP has a low noise MM phono stage which inherits many of its design features from the award-winning Classic PHONO. The phono stage performs at a level way above its class, featuring low background noise and high dynamic range, providing the perfect complement for a quality vinyl turntable.

The features of the 40 AMP do not stop with your love of music, now with the addition of the latest HDMI eARC input, your home audio now provides the opportunity to enjoy your favourite films or tv series through your chosen loudspeakers, putting the 40 AMP well and truly at the centre of your home entertainment.

40 CD

The design of high-performance cd players has been one of our key disciplines for many years, and the results speak for themselves. We developed what we call ‘servo evolution’ nearly ten years ago, which focuses on extracting the data on the disc as accurately as possible the first time to create an almost silent noise-floor. This has resulted in our CD players being used as a reference around the world, and the 40 CD continues to push the boundaries of digital playback with our latest integrated cd players boasting our most advanced DAC to date.

The power supply has also been completely redesigned to minimise interaction between the complex mix of signals which includes fast digital audio, sensitive analogue audio, high current servo and system controls. By completely segmenting these circuits the digital control circuits run from a dedicated, high-efficiency supply, whilst other parts of the player are powered from an over-specified universal power supply. Nine individual stage regulators smooth and distribute power within the player according to demand, taking the overall performance of the 40 CD to another level.

Encased in the sleek design of the 40 series aluminium casing, and finished in anodised brushed black with a 3.5” hi-resolution full colour TFT display, the 40 CD really does offer fans of CD playback one of the best products on the market at any price.

40 PSU

Power supply design has always been key to the overall performance of audio products and with the 40 PSU, we have delivered not only a product packaged within the sleek design of the 40 series aluminium chassis, but a new approach to providing clean and stable power for your compatible 40 series host product. Incorporating its own on-board micro-processor, the 40 PSU communicates directly with the host product to consistently provide the best configuration of virtually noise-free power from a full range of digitally controlled voltage output levels.

When connected to the 40 AMP, the 40 PSU provides the power amp section with a serious boost of clean power, further stiffening the main power supply rails to the amplifier, meaning that the amplified signal can more accurately track the input signal. You hear this accuracy in the music which becomes more transparent and more detailed. The Pre-Amp section is completely driven by the 40 PSU, again this means a stiffer supply – leading to greater accuracy.

This leaves the internal power supply to run the DAC section, and because it is now doing less work, the supply it can provide to the DAC is more robust. In our listening tests we observed a massive improvement on the 40 AMP. We got more weight, more authority, better detail, better attack, overall better control of rise and fall of notes, and more accurate timing.

When connected to the 40 CD, the 40 PSU powers the master clock, which helps to improve jitter. It also powers the CD motors, which is electrically speaking a very noisy circuit as the motors are constantly changing velocity. Taking this supply outside the box lowers the overall noise within the box, helping the player to perform even more accurately.

The 40 PSU also takes over powering the analogue side of the DAC, with the internal supply powering the digital side of the DAC. Again, this separation of power supplies helps to limit the transfer of noise. Sonically, we get improved timing, better control of base notes, more accurate edges and control of notes and enhanced imagery.

When connected to the 40 ST, the 40 PSU takes over powering the analogue side of the DAC and the BluOS network module. This provides those sections of the circuit with a cleaner more stable supply of power improving the audio performance of the streamer, bringing out new levels of detail in the music as well as offering greater control.

You will also find that it creates more space round the instruments and vocals providing greater depth and a holographic soundstage.
